Blacked out engine cleaning.

I just recently bought my first Harley (2013 Street Bob), and one morning into work the fog was pretty thick. Thick enough to get the road nice and wet. Well I noticed that I've got some dirty looking water dried to the top of the front rocker box and the front side of the engine. It shows up pretty bad on that new black engine. I've tried warm soapy water with a tooth brush but when the engine dries those brown water spots come back. When I try to use a rag to scrub it the rag really sticks and snags on the engine. What can I do to really clean that engine rather than spraying it with pig spit or S100 only to cover it up? Thanks in advance.

Try distilled water...it's free of dissolved minerals thus won't leave spots, especially on a hot or warm engine. Works like a charm. You can get it at any food mart or grocery store for about .80 cents.
