I'm just curious, what is the highest mileage Shovelhead engine you've seen or owned? Evolution engine? Twin Cam?

i had a 79 shovel rode it for 13 years sold it to my brother and he's still riding it today, only bike he owns.i put 8000 miles on it in the first year and then buildt a widegilde front end for it.rode the piss out of that bike.sold bike to him and he's rode the piss out of it,don't know how many miles are on the bike now due to different speedo's on it.now here's the part you won't believe the motor has never been touched, not even a pushrod cover off.it's had primary chain and a couple sets of rear chain and spockets, and just last year a throw out bearing and really did'nt need it.normal tuneups and oil changes it's whole life.it's getting alittle tired now as when it's real hot out it starts to puff alittle smoke, but you can barely see it,no big deal.this has been the best motor ever.who knows how long it will go.hope i have'nt jinked it taking about it.

I have about 36,000 on my stock (other than S&S carb) '96 EVO. No problems thus far. You guys will be the first to know when I have one though. :-)

I know a guy with a '50 panhead who told me that has over 40K miles on the motor since it was rebuilt back in the early 80s - the only problem he has ever had is a broken exhaust pipe flange on the front cylinder.
