Chances are he's already fugged his own ride! Fact is he already thinks he is a wrench.

I'm back. Been home for two weeks, but been on the bench with the stomach flu for the past week (not related to Mexico trip). Got my new air filter and new hardware and installed it and retorqued everything to specs. Good to go. Can't wait to go for a ride but its pissing icy bullets right now.
Mexico was righteous.

Do a lot of people use some stuff on drain plugs.....Had three or more friends who bought used bikes from dealers that had some pipe dope or putty or some kind of thread crap on them??
They cleaned the threads and put on new o-rings, nothing was stripped, but they called someone and said that was common to put on a little plumbers putty or what ever the stuff was can't remember???
Was wonderin" if I should use It, have to get a hold of them and ask them what it was exactly??

I don't use it, and don't know of anyone who does.. no mention by Harley that its a good thing to do. I'd be afraid of something coming off, going to the oil pan.

Stuff on threads would have to go up the drain tube to get to the oil tank. Sometimes I use a little thread tape on oil plugs, and never had a problem.

Never used any pipe dope or teflon tape on plug, just a NEW O ring every time and never a leak.

I agree with BI that's its unlikely to cause a problem, but since its unnecessary, why bother? The thing doesn't leak until its a half turn from COMPLETELY OUT. Fresh O ring and a gentle snug and you're good to go.
