If I were made of $$$$$.....

.....I'd be buying every accessory/specialty tool I'm finding in the service manual. Since I'm not.... I'm looking for a shortcut to the FAT JACK.

Anybody build a stand of their own out of 2x4s, for example.... I'm just looking for a way to get it sitting upright so I can work on it.

First, start by measuring hieght of frame to ground(have bars turned to hard left) Build a wooden pyramid out of wood (2x6x12 on bottom) glue and screw wood to desired hieght. Repeat for left side. When it's all built and forks (Bars) are turned left, slide right pyramid in, then go to the other side(left) turn bars to the right and lift bike up on pyramid while your helper slides the left pyramid under frame(or use your foot) The bike will now be ready for service. It works

Just buy a proper motorcycle lift for cry'n out loud...it'll eliminate "your helper" and a proper lift will last you years of faithful service if properly cared for.

A previously enjoyed motorcycle jack seen daily in places like Crigerslist. $40-50... Proper jack for your HAREY DAVIDSON is NOT the place to skimp ! Worst case atleast try & find a used wheel chaulk.
