My stock tank is in the wrong place, it'd be nice to have a catfish tank,
but it doesn't get enough drainage to stay full. I have in mind to reshape
some terrain a little to be able to divert runoff into it as needed.
Another possibility is another stock tank completely, I have a good place for it.
Also my son the aviation mechanic has his pilot's license, he, or maybe we,
have just the slightest interest in maybe building a grass runway.
Because of his job at the warbirds museum, he rubs elbows with a lot of aviation
enthusiasts and aircraft mechanic types. Some of these guys spill more than he
and I make combined, never know what kind of opportunity might present itself.
If I thought he could make some money storing, restoring or maintaining light
aircraft, there's a corner to corner shot at the longest dimension of my property
where we could have a .49 mile runway.
In any case our neighbor convinced my wife that this machine is already at about
it's most depreciated value, assuming we don't let it rust any worse. It has a new
motor and is functionally very sound, he swears we could keep it for 5 years and
sell it for the same price as we paid, and my son is so hyper and into restoring old
machines, I'd bet if we ever do sell it it will have new paint and glass and stencils
and look like a new crawler.
( I keep getting corrected when I say dozer )
Besides, for anybody else to buy it, or to figure out how much to put into it,
they'd have to figure $1000 minimum to move it, all we had to do was drive it
across the street.
EDIT:
I just got the out of print 1200 page dealership service manual, it wasn't cheap,
but I figure this baby is
NEVER EVER going to get taken to the shop, so if
having the manual means even one problem is solved or repair or maintenance
procedure is done more properly, that will make it worthwhile.
Besides, if I was someone thinking about buying something like this someday, and the
current owner has the service manual, it makes his claim that the machine was properly
maintained much more credible.
If we ever sell it it will look more like this, except for tha cab and glass.
And we'll put the AC back in.
