Security System woes

I have an 04 Sportster 1200R with the security system on it and that is causing an issue now..I bought the bike from a private party so no owners manual or directions. Is there a way to disarm or reset that thing so I can go riding..??? Grrrrrrr

I just bought a 2009 FXD with a security system. Mine has a FOB that automatically disarms the security system when the FOB is close to the bike and arms it when you walk away with the FOB. You can program the system so that you can disarm it with a code that you select, just in case your FOB quits working or you lose it.

If you have a FOB, it is possible that the battery is dead. That should be a simple fix.

It is somewhat likely that no one ever set the security pin number. If you are able to locate a manual for your bike, setting the pin might help, but you will still need to get the FOB functioning unless you want to jump through hoops to use the pin every time you start the bike.

My manual says that additional FOB's can be purchased from Harley, but that they have to activate it.

The alarm can be armed or unarmed, by using the turn signal switches. But, and there is always a but, you have to know the code, to enter...So you may have to get a battery for your fob, or roll into a dealer, and have them disarm it, and reset your code.

You may also get lucky, a lot of dealers just use 1,2,3,4,5,6 and count on new owner to change, which we never do!!

my dealer used the vin # on the frame and i had to change it.try that to but 3 wrong tries it will go beserk for 10 min . wait 10 min before each try.Push both switches at the same time and it should show - - - - - - on your odmeter the left signal will cycle through # and the right signal will take you to the next #
