The XL will still beat the twin cams off the block last I know. Stock anyways.
None (without modes) are gonna get much about 110MPH and you really dont wanna be there on a Sportster without Suspension Mods.

Even though I have always ridden sport bikes, I was never out of control or disobeyed speed laws. Will 75-80 on the highway feel like a death trap in a sportster?

Welcome from Hamilton, Ontario.

A 1200 Sportster at 80mph is around 4000rpm. No deathtrap, it is fine at that speed. Especially a later model (2004 and up) rubber mount.

My Sportster was a '94 and the mirrors were totally usable at 80.

Welcome to the forum from Illinois, That nightster is plenty quick. Maybe not ninja quick but still a ton of fun.

I hear you on the fundsarelow disease.

A lot of anti Harley sport bike riders always bring up how much better their bikes handle and perform and they would be right but if your not entering races a Harley is a real blast to ride. More than enough fun for anyone and the coolness factor cant be measured.

It's not exactly a highway cruiser but the 883 will hold up to just about anything you throw at it and do it pretty quickly.
