I lived in La., in the early 70's at Ft.Polk while in the army. Some better weather in the spring and winter, but up here the summer is way nicer, that being June, July, August and September. A lot less bugs here too, those roaches are plentiful and huge down there. Up here there's few to none, just some small wood roaches. No chiggers or scorpions or poisonous snakes up here either, but plenty of deer.

Yeah , I was at Fort Polk back in the sixties during the big push to draft 250.000 trainies to send to Vet Nam (1965) . We had a couple of New York city boys in my unit . They were scared stiff of snakes & all the other critter's . Some ole Cajan boys through some snakes in the shower with em , funny as hell watchin em trying to climb the walls .
At my age its the bitter cold that bothers me more than the heat though .

As I get older I am not liking the snow, I am already looking forward to the middle of Feb. when the snow finally quits.
I'm still working and cannot afford to move at this time, but hopefully in five years if the dollar is still around I might be able to winter in a warmer spot.
