Hi everyone,
Been following the fourm for a few weeks now and decided to join, looks like a great site!!!
A little about me..... at 14 I mowed enough yards to buy my first bike, it was a metric 125 endro. When I turned 16 I received my bike license and racked up many miles on several bikes before in my twentys my dauther was born and I choose to hang up riding for awhile (didn't have the money).
To make a long story short my dauther is raised and getting married this spring, my current wife and I have been married for twenty years and her two dauthers are now raised so I'm back on a bike. My wife does not ride and no she has NNnnnnnooooooo desire to do so.
Last year I picked up a 1985 GPZ900R with the intention of doing a restoration, the bike is nice and very similer to one I had growing up and I wanted to do a frame off. However I opened up a Garage door business three years ago and I do not have the time or space for a project like that right now (plus I really wanted to buy an HD, I have some fond memories ridding my friends HD's when I was younger).
Two months ago I "bought" my first H.D.,1996 FLHTC. Winter plans are to paint the bike, crome the lower fork tubes, polish the front rotors, new front fender (looking for something bigger and clean, no lights and such), quick change for tour pack, it will be off most of the time, new tail light, have to do something with the gaurds around the saddle bags (maybe take the top rail off?), new seat, handlebar controls, maybe true duels this year.
Next winter my plans are cams, heads, big bore, performance mods.
I'm in need of a bike lift/jack in order to pull front front and rear tires and fenders, otherwise everything else is off for paint and I have been removing crome parts and polishing them.
I have purchased the HD service manual, I can already tell that was the best $75.00 I have spent so far.
Good place to go to buy a bike jack?
I think I've got the fever.........
P.S. you can call me Willie, my wife prefers to call me Dick.
