i need some help, we got any plumbers in here?

i noticed today i have a water leak at the "y" where my washing machine and kitchen sink join. what i need to know is this something i can fix and how difficult is such a job?

i have 60 year old cast iron pipes. and i know the bottom of the pipe has deteriorated and is why its leaking.

any help with what materials and tools i need will be greatly appreciated.

unfortunately thats not going to solve my problem and if i can fix it myself i'd be more incline to do that, because i have no money. so you want to send me a check or money order to call a plumber, i'll joke about this shit all day long.

i'm pretty sure i'll have to replace the "y" it has ahole in it the size of a quarter.

can i cut it with a saws all and use hose clamps and rubber hose to join the new "Y" with the existing pipe?

Just make sure to use some heavy duty plumbers glue so it'll kinda bond with the cast iron. That should work. Haven't really dealt with old cast iron pipes, except for ripping them out.

What if you threaded the pipe and put some PVC in it's place? If it's drain side, I'd try the hose clamps out..f'it what have ya got to lose..it's already f**ked

The rubber and clamps works fine. Had a similar problem this summer.

If it's not under pressure try to fill the hole with JB weld. maybe even a piece of rubber with a hose clamp. other than that you may have to cut the y out replace with a pvc fixture and epoxy the parts in.
