This is a "fun" Harley forum. I also frequent V-Twin forum, (same user name) and post much less there, but you'll read all day long about what cams are best and a lot of internal engine threads, discussing cranks, cylinders and rods. It's a whole different level of knowledge there, provided by builders, and not just "owners/riders". Of course, there's the political threads that I refuse to get involved in.

It's not uncommon for a forum to have more "Lurkers" then participants. Stage fright, nothing to contribute or just wanting to read and not chat, are a few of the reasons.

Bingo

In my experience there are always more lukers than posters. I'm an admin on two forums and have been a member of several others and it's always the same. There are non member lurkers, member lurkers and then the members that start posting and basically stop but keep reading.

Years ago one of the first forums I enjoyed, I read there for more than a year before joining and was a member for six months or so before my first post....no particular reason, just the way it worked out.

One site that I've was a member of for 12 yrs has 2 main sections, News & Chat forums, some folks only post on the news, some only on the chat & others just lurk... Once every 6 months or so the admin would purge everyone who had signed up & never posted or signed back in after initial sign up... The membership numbers were outragous but in reality only a small portion actually contributed.

I've been coming here for a while now. I introduced myself, but never really posted much after that. I enoy reading what you guys have to say. Don't usually have much to contribute. What I have to say usually sounds better in my head, until I start typing. But now that I see I am referred to as a "lurker", I'm going to try post more. It's a lot of fun on here. Where else can you read 21 pages of replies on bubblewrap. Laugh my ass off all the time. Keep it up guys!
