Kentucky must prepare
for what it will see
when the HERD comes to town
shouting "YIPPEE!!!"

Dixie will take us
and show us the sights
the locals will worry
and be full of fright

the rumbling thunder
of bikes all around
converging together
a wonderful sound

If any way possible
I too will be
part of this gathering
you watch and see

Had a really nice convesation with Dixiecrat(anopther old timer harley guy like myself) the other day and among many other subjects discussed and decided on was that Paintsville,KY would be the location for May 21-22-23 2010. From everyting that DC describes it, it sounds like the perfect location for scenic riding. As we speak ole DC may be scouting the hotels in that area and will get back with us on which one would be the best choice.Committing to one should help us get a better "group rate" is the hope.

I wonder if the admins here would consider putting May 21-23, 2010 meeting of the HERD at Paintsville,KY. Hotel information to follow soon.

Other dates and locations for 2010 HERD gatherings are being pursued. Looking for contacts for the Texas and New England locations...any takers(how about you Badbrutus want to team up for a New England HERD gathering?)

Well I for one am currently planning a trip with some of my buds to head up to the New England area this summer so that might work out better for me. I'll keep a tight watch on these threads!

Can't afford no motel. Kinda liked the idea of 3Olive's backyard and a tent. Got all of the LBL stuff nearby...or at least someone said so when we were all discussing it a few months ago.

However you show up is all that counts. And even better in a truck as you can follow on the ride as the chase vehicle...you know the guy that has all the coolers and roadside refreshment?

I am getting excited about this because I have always wanted to trip the Appalachian mountains. I hope the townsfolks won't be put off by my New Hampshire license plate. I suppose I could register it in North Carolina where I keep it.

I've also ran it by my daughter and her family as it will cut into our visit with them. They seemed on board with it too. I imagine we'd get there late Friday and head out Monday morning for home. Leaving Saturday and Sunday for touring the area.

Sure looking forward to being in Appalachian country first hand.
