Drunken cop runs into back of a motorcycle

TheSpec - Niagara cop charged with drunk driving after...

My wife said this was all over the local news ysterday and today. The cop is suspended WITH PAY. It was also disclosed that this cops job is administering breathalizer tests.

Drunk cop, hits a motorcycle from behind, and gets a PAID vacation. There's justice.

It's a union thing...no way around it. But be assured, that cop's career is over. He'll be lucky to get a job as a security guard at the local mall.

Yer funny Chris. You're not GUILTY until proven GUILTY. If you did something wrong at work, would you want to be FIRED or suspended without pay, until you were proven guilty of the reason they're firing you for???

I swear.....is this a motorcycle forum, or a cop bashing forum lately?

NO he's going to jail, he should and will be held to a higher standard than anyone else. And he'll do a longer sentence than the regular citizen for doing the same thing.

Suspension with pay is common with all disciplinary actions in the workplace. Working in a union environment (I'm not in the union), we see it all the time.

From a operational point of view, it's the best approach because it's CYA in both directions. If the person turns out to be "guilty," then you took them off the job upon discovery. If not, they rightfully lost no pay.

Jeeez.....Don't tell tham that Jitzy. It may take away from all the fun, glamour and law breaking some people think the job is all about.

NO one should be held to a higher standard than anyone else. Should someone with PhD get more punishment for the same crime than a high school drop out because he is supposedly more intelligent? NO. The law is supposed to be applied EQUALLY.

Dave, in Canada it's not innocent until proven guilty. Burden of proof is on the citizen. A citizen get charged with over .08 his license is suspended on the spot and his car is impounded. The arresting officer is judge and jury. Same with driving over 50kph over the limit. Instant roadside suspension. Except cops.
As far as cop bashing, if the shoe fits. 30 years ago cops weren't like this. Cops were respected and for the most part deserved it.

It's actually a SHE, and SHE's a sargeant to boot.

What's the bet the evidence gets "lost" once the initial hub bub quiets down.
