i read on J&P's information sheet about a 1250 upgrade for my 883 sporty, and is stated that the cases had to be machined to allow clearance for the larger jugs, and piston skirts...i've read the thread, but cant remember if you said you had the case clearances checked or not....if not, you may have had contact with the pistons into the cases, and if its just a small amount, it would damage the pistons, and score the cylinder walls...

have you pulled the pistons out to look at the skirts ?

The pistons looked good except the up and down scratches on the skirts. I think I might be running to much compression could that cause the pistons to scuff.

You should buy your 1250 kit from NRHS. NRHS - High Performance for your Harley Twin Cam, Evolution, Sportster or Buell! (303)702-1600
Talk to Dan they have better product than Zippers and they have the best customer service and will answer any questions you have.
