Big bore on '06 Dyna

I was looking online at some kits today and was trying to figure out some differences. The '06 dyna is 88ci but I know that the cam drives are the new style. The 95ci kit says it fits til '06 except the Dyna. They do make a 107ci kit though. Why does the 95 not work on the '06? What other changes where made if any?

Seems to me the 2006 Dyna was the first year for the 96ci engine . Dynas are usually HDs test bed for new drive train components like the 6 spd trans .

My '06 is an 88ci but it does have the new valve train and no external oil lines. I know the 95ci kit is simply larger bore pistons and cylinders but I'm trying to figure out why it won't fit an '06. The one I found listed has a kit for a 107ci kit. I'm just a little confused I guess.

Ok , I'll tell ya where I'm getting my info on this from . I've got a booklet sitting here in front of me , it's the HD University Tech. Forum 2007 model year . Now , what it says ( and I'm making assumptions here ) " Twin cam 96" components follow 2006 Dyna powertrain upgrades " . It goes on to highlight the updates such as ; displacement increase achieved with increased stroke , lighter pistons and rods , 25 degree injectors , comp sprocket assy. and alternators , engine to trans gasket , engine case with integral filter adapter , elimination of external oil lines , the cam plate and bearing changes , crank assy. and case changes , oil pump upgrades and flywheel sprocket shaft splines match 2006 Dyna models . the rest of it has to do with the 6 spd. trans .
Maybe I'm reading too much into this and will have to check the book at my shed when I get there today .
Is your Dyna a 6 spd ?

Here's some more info I dug up at the S&S website . The stock TC 88ci cyls. can be bored out to 3 7/8" to achieve 95ci as in the S&S TC-88 Hot Setup Kit . No need to replace your original cyls. . The 107" kit you're referring to requires the cases to be bored out to accomodate the larger cylinders .

Yeah the '06 has all those upgrades except its still 88ci. I looked at the s&s website and they do have one for a 95ci. The other website I had looked at didn't show one available. The '06 is kind of in between as you said. It does have all those changes that you losted with the exception of still being only 88ci. My understanding is that the 96ci has a different stroke than the 88's have. I'm going to try to find out if the stroke is the same for 'the '06 88ci as the previous years, I'm guessing it is so a 95ci kit should drop in. Thanks for the info.

The TC 88 can upgrade to a 95 inch without a lot of work, or to a 103 inch with more involvement.

The TC 96 can upgrade to a 103 inch easily and bigger to a 110 inch with more involvement.

The 95 inch kit is an excellent power & torque upgrade for the TC 88 combined with a good intake, (screamin eagle or Arlen Ness), exhaust,(Thunderheader) & gear drive cams: (Andrews 37G)...
