Deceleration popping

I have an 06 roadking classic that pops out the exhaust when I let off the throtle. Some days worse then others. Real annoying. The dealer said it's normal for the mufflers I have on. Screaming eagle slip on's also S.E. air cleaner. I had the rite injectors installed under warr. by my own research. So my question is what's causing the poping and how do I stop it? It did it from day one.

A/F ratio is lean at closed throttle at mid RPM.

Needs a dyno tune.

If you had the mufflers and air cleaner installed, then you would be required to add a fuel management system, or at a minimum, have a stage-I reflash performed, or else you're running lean.

Adding the injectors was due to another issue, and has nothing to do with your a/f mixture after modding the intake AND exhaust of t your bike.

If that was done, then you're either likely still lea, or have an exhaust leak somewhere.

Those are the two things that cause those popping. That's not to say you may not have n intake vacuum leak, but that falls under "lean" as well.

Had a popping on my 05 Softail..turned out the local HD dealer zeroed out my fine adjust on my PowerCommander during a 10K service....Re dialed it in and it went away...was a lean out condition....mostly mid range....and some on the 0 -2,000 rpm range also...never have been back to the dealership for ANY service..as I told them prior to taking it in to not do anything to my PC settings...I have a modified MAP in the bike. a 5 % adjustment recently gained me around 6 mpg fuel milage...so getting it right is important...

Thanks for the info. I've also heard that the cam tensioner shoes wear out around 20,000 to 25,000 miles. I want to replace mine with gear driven cams either andrews or s&s, would like advice on which brand to go with. Also the cheapest place to order the cam kit & power comander.

I have aways heard you donot tune an engine for decell popping. You tune your engine for the proper air flow and fuel needed with aspects of hp to be the side affect. Always proper air/fuel ratio first. Some exhaust due the free flow nature, you can never get rid of decell pop. I know if you have an exhaust leak that alone can cause the same popping. Easy thing to check good luck.

Since I have taken the baffles out of my cobra pipes the pop on decel also. I had it all checked out and the mechanic said it was just do to the pipes. No problems with air/fuel. Nice thing is you can scare the crap out of people when you let off going by someone and it pop.
