SE211 Cam Upgrade

Looking to get a bit more power without compromising ridability and reliability.

My local dealer says they have been putting 211 cams in TC 88 and guarantees me it’s the biggest bang for the buck. I believe him, but the SE catalogue recommends the 211 for 103 c.i and bigger.

My local dealer tells me to ignore that, he said with 211 and the custom tune they will do with the dyno and using a SE race tuner that I should go from about 72 ft lbs of torque at the wheel to 89. Without any wear and tear issues. I already have the stage I intake and V&H slip ons

They guarantee the install but I am still curious if any one else has gone this road. I do not want to spend to much $ on this bike because, in a few years I hope to get a SE Touring bike.

This one is a 06 RK 5 speed. It handle great and has started first time every time and never sputtered even once, it has ran great, but lacking a bit in power. Of course it did not feel that way when I first bought it but after a couple years of it does, ha ha, go figure.

Anyway any insight on a 211 cam possibly over caming the TC 88 is welcome.

Thanks

Thanks, good info on that thread.

When I looked at the specs on the 211 it does look like you loose a bit of torque in the bottom but gain well in the middle. But the Harley dealer says I will not feel less torque at the bottom. They have a race team and seem to be very impressed with what they can do witha SE RT and Dyno. The dealer said they did at least 20 bikes over the summer and evryone seems pleased no problems.

We will see, I drop it off on 28 Nov

Exclamation SE211 Cam Upgrade

I, too, am looking at upgrading my cams. I have an 04 ultra and have been researching for the past several weeks.

I've heard that you cannot have it both ways, low end torque and top end power. And you're right, the SE book does say that the 211 is for bigger engines.

My understanding is the longer duration does affect low end torque.

My head is still buzzing from everyone's comments and suggestions.

I've settled on the SE204 because it's intended for the low/mid-range (top ~5800).

What type of riding do you do? I'm doing mine around the beginning of December. I've also have a K&N high flow in front of my lil CV and R&B Racing LRS2 pipes.

211 Cam

I have not done much touring the longest one day ride has been about 6 hrs. But I do ride hear and there and everywhere when I can. Minimum 10 miles to work one way. The dealer I am going to says I will not notice any pwr loss in the bottom. I guess if the cam was in a bigger engine it would be more noticeable. With the 88 TC, K&N intake and a V&H slip on he is guaranteeing me I will be totally satisfied over a 204. He says the midrange increase is just perfect for the amount of $ I will be spending. I did ask for a torque curve but he was not able to send anything, but sad he will pull one for me to see when I come.

Cool Cam upgrade complete!

CAM upgrade complete, bike runs great!

Now at higher RPMs I have more pull less vibration. They did a before and after Dyno and I got another 10ft lbs. At the bottom the torque is only about 2 lbs higher then the before curve and about 10ft lbs at 3300.

I imagine I am good to go for awhile, eventually get a six speed SE touring bike!

I can not remember the last time I was so satisfied after blowing a bunch of money, well there was that time in Amsterdam!

See ya!
