Cutting/modifying S&S air filter cover

So S&S states in their literature that cutting about 3/4's of an inch off the bottom of the cover can get you 3 more HP. Anyone done it? Pics? Thoughts? I was thinking of maybe drilling holes in a pattern to increase air flow,,,,

I'd install their #17-0045 High Flow filter kit, prior to that modification.

Drilling holes in the S&S backing plate will allow unfiltered air to enter the carb ... just saying.
