Will a 1997 FatBoy do 125 mph?
My buddy says his brother changed the cam shaft, carb, exhaust, and electronic ignition module, and with his brother riding it (230+ pounds) that he can hit 125 mph. This seems like a stretch to m, as the top speed for the TC88 stock on this bike was just 96 mph.
Is it really possible to change those items and gain the 30 mph he claims?

He is dreaming! 125kmph but not mph.
Mind you my little old FXR Evo is good for 140mph but its tweaked and only does that on the salt.

No.
Everyone knows that a Harley will only go 88 miles an hour before going back in time to 1955.
"One point twenty one gigawatts! Tom....what was I thinking?"

i personaly beleive if he had pistons it could be capable, my old set up had just SE pistons SE-11 cam, SE 44 carb, with slip ons and a dynatek ignition, it would push past 120 on the speedo with a chick on the back,
the fatboy weighs alittle more then my wideglide me at 120 and the girl at 140 gets the weights damn close to eachother
so depending on the cam he installed and if he had pistons then i would say its beleiveable he would just need a cam that would pull to 6k without falling off

And if a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumped.
YOU and a chick, assuming she was smaller than you, is about what this guy weighs singularly. 230......
Can and carb with ignition is about 70 ups. 75 conservatively.
He also doesn't mention pistons, head work or anything other than what he did.
Is 125 mph possible? Sure.... just plop a NOS bottle on.
The percentage of Harley big twins capable of seeing a true ( not off the speedo that has an incorrect reading) 125 mph, are about 1-2% of the populous.
Less likely with a big twin or a 1340 Evo with a stage II mod.

well...as he doesnt mention pistons, or head work, even though stock evo heads can produce 85-90hp with the proper add ons...the proper piston and cam would be needed to get the power cabable of pulling the mph, and as the OP is from detroit i will assume his buddy is too, which im from lower east michigan so elevation is low so power is higher then if he was out somewhere with higher elevation....
i think his friend should put his money where his mouth is n get a camera set up to record this...
