SE Ignition box questions.

Hello everybody,

I have a few questions about a old SE ignition box that my bike came with. I do not have the # with me, but it is the Race Ignition with the 7 small switches on the back. The original owner had it on the bike for about 40 miles and then took it off due to excessive pinging. I installed it this past weekend to verify the issue that the prior owner had. It actually felt like I lost power, not to mention the preignition.

My bike has the S&S Super Stock Kit with 10-1 Compression pistons, ported heads and the Cam that came with the kit. The carb is the S&S shorty that came with the kit. I have V&H long shot exhaust pipes on it. I run 93 octane fuel.

The first switch is for single fire or duel fire engines. What is the difference?

I know this box is pretty old, but I was wondering if anybody else had this issue with anything like this.
