The Big Sucker (no, not women lol)
Does anyone have the Big Sucker made by Arlen Ness on their bike? Does it increase performance?

Many people run the Arlen Ness Big Sucker. Its a good product. Functionally equivalent to the SE backplate.

I have it. Went from 70-something horsepower to 89HP after installing it with stock pipes that have been drilled with a 1/4 inch bit and a dyno tune with the SERT. It'll make the bike a bit louder, too.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the stage 1 and stage 2 big sucker?
I was doing some research and can only see that the stage 2 had a circular filter and the stage 1 is sort of cone shaped?

Stage II is $10 more and the filter is a tad larger.
The stage 1 already sucks more air then you'll need in a lifetime, IMHO.

Did you rejet when installing the Big Sucker, if so, to what?
I have the Ness Big Sucker stage I on my 1999 Sportster 883. Stock jetting is 42 and 160, it was recommended that I go to 45 and 170 with the Big Sucker. I read on a forum that I should maybe go to a 48 and 185.

That depends on what exhaust you have. Have you shimmed your needle jet?
I run a 48 pilot in my Dyna. (80 inch, stock cam, V&H pipes) I can also run a 45.
With the 45, I have to set a/f at 2.5 turns out.
With the 48, I set it at 1.25 turns out.
I'd rather be at 1.25 turns, and be able to fatten the bottom end up at will, then be at 2.5 and anything over 3 turns out, and you risk the needle falling out due to vibration.
