Got to be a bunch of video game technology in the newest cool military toys.
One that's got to be great in Iraq, is automatic shoot back technology.
Mortars used to be the ideal weapon of terrorists, throws a shell real high, the bad guy is a good distance away, safe and out of sight. Not any more.
A computerized mortar with radar that watches for incoming mortar rounds, and sends one back so fast and with such precision aim that the bad guys don't get away.
Same with an anti-sniper system, I read about they supposedly used, or had available in Bosnia, it watches a whole over area where there shouldn't be any shooting, and any rifle flash it detects is sure to be enemy sniper fire, the automatic gun would detect a rifle flash, zero in, take a telefoto picture of the sniper, still behind the gun so there can't be any claim he was an innocent, and shoot him in a split second.
30 years ago I saw a presentation by Naval officer recruiting electronics technicians to work on the Phalanx Close-In Air Defense System, popularly called R2D2. It was designed to hit incoming cruise missiles.
He said they mounted the system on a target barge and shot at it with naval artillery and couldn't hit it, it could hit incoming rounds every time
