elevator mystery

there is a guy who lives on the 11th floor of an apartment building and he rides the eleveator everyday.In the morning he rides down to the 1st floor.But most afternoons on the way up he gets off on the 7th floor and walks the rest of the way up. he is not a health freak, nor trying to lose weight, and the elevator will go up to the 11th floor. only on rainy days does he ride the elevator all the way to the 11th floor. why is it that only on rainy days does he ride all the way up to the 11th floor?

I'm going to say a bum knee. When the moisture builds in the air, my knee starts to hurt. So, when it rains, he doesn't want to walk up the stairs.

Or he has a girlfriend on the 7th floor, and his wife cuts grass for a living. When it rains, his wife can't cut grass so the man has to go right upstairs to his wife. But when it sunny, his wife works until the sun goes down to make up for the rain filled days. That's when he get to stop on the 7th floor to see his girlfriend.

I like the second answer better.
