Exclamation [PRESS CONFERENCE]-For Jamilla Simms, Killed for $285 - Oak Park, IL, 10/25/09 - 12PM

"A $285 FINE FOR KILLING MY DAUGHTER"
http://www.austinweeklynews.com/main...ArticleID=2470

Location: Oak Park Police Department - 123 Madison Street, Oak Park, IL

Time: 12:00PM (But get there around 11:30AM)

Facebook Event Page: Press Conference - Justice for Jamilla Simms | Facebook

Apparently, making a U-Turn across multiple lanes of traffic & KILLING SOMEONE is not NEGLIGENT nor RECKLESS at all in their opinion. Lolita Brown pleaded guilty to charges of improper standing on the roadway & improper U-turn on a hill. The KILLING SOMEONE part was insignificant to them.

Double jeopardy attaches. No justice.

I was very glad to meet Maxine Kelley, Jamilla's mother at the IL ABATE (Chicago) meeting. She is a strong woman & isn't willing to accept the injustice of our legal system.

We need to show the world we aren't willing to stand for these injustices & make sure people see Jamilla as a person, not a statistic!

Please come out & support Maxine, the rest of Jamilla's family & our cause at this press conference. Feel free to bring signs, etc. Rain or shine, ride or cage. It doesn't matter, just get there early & invite as many people as you can!

Life taking should be life changing!

Man....that was a sad story, and as I recall, we had beefs back and forth with a radio show host, via emails, that insinuated that Anita was "putting herself in harms way" by riding a motorcycle, and that she would be alive had she been in a car.

Radio Talk Show Host's Take on Anita Zaffke's Death

Admitted to applying nail polish while driving and there's no neglegence? My sympathies to your family, Mr. Zaffke. Not only for the untimely and senseless loss of your daughter, but for the abandonment you must feel regarding our Justice System, and the way her case ISN'T being handled.

Michael Vick got more of a sentence for killing dogs.

Something is very wrong with our country at times.

I did listen to that radio show after my mom was killed. Those are the opinions we need to change. Motorcycling is not a death sentence for those who chose to enjoy it, if the people driving their cars & trucks would pay attention while driving. In fact, other cagers would be saved as well. This issue transcends motorcyclists, but motorcyclists are hugely affected by it.

We are still fighting our fight in court. This Press Conference/Rally is for Jamilla Simms' family. We as a foundation are trying to lend any support we can to them. We feel pulling a U-Turn across multiple lanes of traffic deserves more punishment than a $285 ticket.

XDixiecratX - Not trying to be rude. I bypassed that thread when I posted our Arraignment Ride & Protest information several weeks ago too. You'll excuse me if the topic of DEAD RIDERS WITH NO JUSTICE is important enough to put it in the "Rallies & Rider Gatherings" thread. We need people to get behind this issue or nothing will be done to wake people up from cell phones, texting, eating cereal, reading, painting nails behind the wheel, or just plain not bothering to look before they turn, killing someone and going home without consequence. So hello and I hope there's no hard feelings.

This should be first and foremost on all motorcyclist and motorcyclist organization priority list. Saving motorcyclists from 100% preventable death caused by negligent & reckless cagers.
