Need a diet that works w/o hunger, deprivation or exercise?

I lost almost 50 lbs in about 6 months w/o being deprived or hungry or exercising.
231 to 182-ish. I lost 30 lbs in 6 weeks.
Blood pressure went way down, cholesterol went way down, HDL vs LDL balance improved.
I've never had any success at dieting, but this was so effective I became power-mad
about the control I have over my weight.

One word. Atkins-ish. Low Carbs. Really Low. ( Whiskey is OK !! )

Only bitch is, now I need $1000 worth of new leathers.

I won't bother preaching if nobody wants or needs to hear this.

Well, i could stand to lose about 30 or 40 lbs. I gained this weight when i quit smokin 10 years ago. I don't have much will power when it comes to food. I love to eat. Lets hear it, if i don't have to exercise i might can do it.

Absolutely! Chili w/o beans or masa, or tomatoes, or onions, if it's only meat and chili peppers,
then it has no carbs at all, it is like you skipped a meal. Same with BBQ, if there is no starch,
no bread, nothing but meat, fat, protein and NO CARBS, it's as if you never ate.

Straight alcohol doesn't count at all. Beer or wine blows the diet completely.

I never read up in great detail on Atkins, but I went on the general concept and assumption
that if I ate less than 20 net carbs per day, and didn't deviate, it doesn't matter
how many total calories I ate a day, I lost weight like somebody starving to death.

I have been on a diet that has been a real miracle for me, with no exercise and never been hungry or felt at all deprived, I've lost around 45 lbs in about 3 or 4 months. I'm not exactly sure how long it has been, because it has been easy and painless so it doesn't seem like a long time. For the first time I feel empowered, I pretty have gotten control of my weight, even though I have not increased my exercise or discipline about eating when bored or just wanting some stimulation.

It's just the extreme low carb/Atkins type diet everybody has talked about for years, I finally checked into it and despite a lot of initially bad reaction by the medical establishment, nobody has been able to factually indict it as dangerous or unhealthy, and several reports I found in the last year said it was the most effective diet, reduced cholesterol and blood pressure. That's what it did for me and Helen and Jason, too. We all 3 went to the doctor after a month of eating pretty much nothing but meat and had dramatic reduction in blood cholesterol, and for me dramatic reduction in blood pressure.

See these studies, and many more if you care to look for them. For definition, VLC refers to very low carb, KD to ketogenic diet. Ketosis is a state you body goes into when it is deprived of carbs for a long time, but has plenty of protein and fats to work with, ketosis is a specialized digestion of fats and protein process much different from the blood sugar and insulin process that is normal for our diets.

You can tell when your body has entered ketosis, because you have an odd taste in your mouth and bad breath, because you body is having to excrete acetone, which is a by-product of the breakdown of fats and proteins. It is not unpleasant enough to cause you to stop the diet.

Think when we were all cavemen, we lived almost entirely on what we could kill, there were not lots of starches, grains, corn, potatoes, flour, etc. Just meat.

One of the leading researchers of the low-carb nutritional approach these days is Dr. Jeff S. Volek, PhD, RD from the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Connecticut. He conducted a study with a prestigious team of fellow researchers (including Dr. Richard Feinman, Dr. Stephen Phinney, and Cassandra Forsythe, among others) which tested the various components of metabolic syndrome comparing a carbohydrate-restricted diet with a low-fat diet in overweight men and women over a 12-week period. The study participants were split into one of two groups:

VLCKD (very low-carb ketogenic diet)–1504 calories
Fat/Protein/Carbohydrate ratio of 59/28/12

OR

LFD (low-fat diet)–1478 calories
Fat/Protein/Carbohydrate ration of 24/20/56

What did Dr. Volek and his team of researchers find? Total saturated fatty acids in the blood actually DECREASED in the VLCKD group while the anti-inflammatory markers also “significantly decreased.” Meanwhile, the LFD group, which consumed two-thirds less saturated fat than the VLCKD group, saw an INCREASE in total saturated fat in the bloodstream despite reducing fat intake. This was totally unexpected as the conventional wisdom regarding saturated fat consumption is that it causes an increase in inflammation which leads to a worsening of the metabolic syndrome conditions and overall health. But that’s not what happened.

“A very low carbohydrate diet resulted in profound alterations in fatty acid composition and reduced inflammation compared to a low fat diet,” the researchers concluded.

On this diet calories don't count at all. Only carbs.
Once your body has changed to ketosis, eating a whole tub of butter of jar of mayo has no effect, you would still lose weight.

Primary Diet Foods, the backbone of the diet for me, stuff that doesn't count at all, 0 carbs

Meats, fish, anything not breaded, I ate tons of brats, Helen ate hotdogs with cheese.

No bread at all. none. no potatoes, no starch, no pasta, no chips or pizza. No corn.

eggs no carbs, brisket, steaks, roast beef, etc. etc. Beef ribs, *frozen burger patties grilled on a George Forman Grill and put a slice of cheese on it,

*hot dogs (no bun) with cheese and dill pickle relish variation with sauerkraut no carbs

*can of tuna w/ a couple of spoonful of Mayo, and dill pickle relish wrapped in lettuce leaves like a burrito no carbs

can of salmon w/ a couple of spoonful of Mayo, and dill pickle relish wrapped in lettuce leaves like a burrito no carbs

can of chicken w/ a couple of spoonful of Mayo, and dill pickle relish wrapped in lettuce leaves like a burrito no carbs

plain beef jerky if it's not sugared.

sardines. any fish that's not breaded.

*coleslaw, (plain shredded cabbage) mayonnaise doesn't count.

*celery, put whipped cottage cheese w/cayenne in it like a dip

*spinach, kale

*sauerkraut, great with brats no carbs

*broccoli, with shredded cheese, has no carbs

*Salad, most dressings don't count much, oil and vinegar and mayo has no carbs,

*cheese no carbs

*cottage cheese is very low, 4 or 5 carbs per serving, add a spoonful of mayo, adds no carbs.

**straight whiskey has no carbs thank heaven

anything turkey, but if it's processed, like turkey hot-dogs or turkey bacon, read the label, many processed things add carbs

Anything fat free probably went up in carbs.

A whole tub of butter or jug of oil has no carbs.

Natural peanut butter has surprisingly few carbs, too many to be a staple but not too many for a treat

Sugar free jello has no carbs

Chili, real Texas chili that is meat and peppers has no carbs, a few onions won't hurt much, but no beans and not much tomatoes or tomato sauce.

Look online for Miracle Noodles. No calories, no carbs, no fat, no protein. It's ghost food. A big bowl of noodles with butter and salt and pepper and loaded with Parmesan cheese, is NOTHING, no carbs at all, on this diet it's like you skipped a meal. Smells fishy, till you rinse them, they're Japanese and that must be the preferred scent. They don't have much taste, they take the taste of what you put on them, like 1/3 cup of Ragu has 10 carbs. I've been keeping a bowl of spicy breakfast sausage cooked with a wisk so it's all broken up, it has no carbs, same with chili, if you don't use beans or very much tomato or onion, if it's all meat and peppers, it has no carbs. Smother it in shredded cheese or Parmesan no carbs.

http://miraclenoodle.com/

If you can't do without a treat, Helen has been buying Atkins bars, a very good simulation of a candy bar, with only 3 or 4 net carbs, they don't ruin the diet.

Net carbs is something you'd need to study up on, a serving of canned spinach is a half cup, it has 4 total carbs, but since it has 2 carbs of fiber, it only has 2 net carbs.

A good dinner for us is 2 frozen hamburger patties with melted cheese, with about 1 carb each, and a double serving of spinach with a total of 4 carbs, 6 carbs for a dinner, and if you keep tha day's carbs under 20 you'll drop weight like you were starving to death.
For breakfast, scrambled eggs with sausage or ham or bacon, with cheese, no carbs.

We've never been hungry and never deprived or weak or had a hunger headache.

No beer, no wine. Actually somebody is making a lite beer claiming only 3 or 4 carbs. Straight liquor, whiskey or vodka, whatever has NO carbs that count on this diet.

good for you for your weight loss but the best way is a balanced diet with exercise..

you will be better off for it..every one should get some form or exercise in your day to keep your heart healthy and strong

eliminating whole food groups from your diet is not good for you

i changed my eating habits and use portion control upped my activity level and that worked for me
