Rear Vision Helmet

Anyone here tried the Reevu helmets? Any idea on how effective / good they are?

Very interesting and trick. Brings forward the question of what is too much information.

I can really appreciate the need for the rear view, I envisioned it being done with a CCTV screen

or heads-up display on the windscreen. This image is much better.

As they hinted, it would take some getting used to, for one thing it would be harder

if not impossible to ignore the rear view, I would think there might be times

it could be very distracting, a densely packed urban highway at night,

with 200 pairs of headlights behind you, or even an empty country highway

with one car behind you with his brights on, it would seem likely to hurt your night vision.

Doesn't seem to be DOT certified, let alone Snell. Maybe that takes awhile.

It would be good to hear somebody report on it.

Yeah, a simple shutter would be easy to incorporate. I agree that the distraction of headlights at night would be an issue if you couldn't block it somehow, although maybe they have some kind of auto dimming function built in. Cool concept though!

From their FAQ page:

Q: What about the glare from vehicles coming from behind?
A: The helmet has a series of reflective surfaces that limit the intensity of light hitting the front reflective surface. This limits the intensity of reflected light significantly. Even a slight turn of the head can ensure the reflective light path is stopped.

This MIGHT help on headlight glare. Seems like the thing in the front of the helmet is a mirror that can be adjusted, maybe removed while riding at nite.

I just shoot them with an email asking where to find their stores in US.
I prefer to put them on and try them rather than taking the risk an purchase it online.
