Lake Placid,NY
Thursday 8-13-09 me and a friend from work rode to LP,NY. Decent day trip...about 350 miles round trip. Very scenic and uneventful except for that moment of time on I-87 south where the skies opened up and all hell broke loose. When we pulled over to put rain gear on, a NY SP car pulled over and was annoyed that we pulled over on the interstate. I really didn't know you couldn't do that. Other then visibly annoyed he was chill. We did stop on NY Brt 22 to help a farmer put his hay back on his wagon. He was driving a big old checy truck loaded down with hay bales and pulling a huge extra large wagon filled with hay bales behind him. Something must have broke loose because when we came upon the scene there was bales of hat strewn about. We stopped and helped him load it back up and tie it down. He was surprised to see us.
Some of the neat things we saw was a taxidermist that had an actual stuffed moose, stuffed black bear and the most impressive was an actual stuffed lion killing an antelope.
Lake Placid seems to be a realy sedate town with minimum slection of eateries and drinking establishments. There was a harley davidson clothing store, which we checked out. Nothing special.
Tons of great riding in any direction and I could see myself spending a few days exploring the area. The Adirondacks are pretty amazing. I will post photos at some point when I get the film developed.
So far this summer we've toured the White Mountains, Green Mountains and the Adirondacks.
