Northern Michigan

Getting together with my roadtrippin' bud to make plans for a weekend ride Sept 4-6. Wanting to leave Soo MI Friday, scoot out to Paradise for lunch, then on to Marquette. Saturday would like to head to Copper Harbor and back to Marquette, and home Sunday.

The Ol' Lady will be spending some time on the "pad" for the first time, and looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend on the sled. My bud's Ol' Lady will be on her Buell.

I aint never been past Marquette, so if anyone can let me know of what to expect or any points of intrest, that would cool.

Thanks.

BTW, if ya see these two, stop by and say Hi.

Up Mi

Hey Glyde,

I did the Copper Harbor trip a couple of years ago and would be glad to share my experience with you. We came up from Chicago so we came up from Crystal Falls on 141 to 41. Haven't been on 28 outside of Marquette so can't comment on that. It was a nice ride up through L'Anse when it get's much better. You ride along the lake up into Houghton which is a great town and we had to stop halfway up the hill to check out the sites (pictures attached). We stayed on 41 up to Copper Harbor and came back on 26 so we were lake side for our ride. This was one of my favorite trips and there are quite a few "Tunnel of trees" with nice wavy roads in good shape. 26 along the lake is excellent and keep an eye out for the monastery along the lake. We went in fall so the colors were great but it was chilly. In Copper Harbor there are some posting about some of the smaller roads like a southern trip through the town of Gay but we didn't have the time to try these.
Keep an eye out for wildlife as my riding partner nailed a deer doing 70 and kept the rubber side down. Bent his crash bar back to his leg (that's where the deers head hit). He hit it on 41 just north of 28. All in all a really nice trip past L'Anse but pretty much north woods south of that.
Hope this helps. Let me know how your trip is. Love that ride along the painted rocks east of Munising.

George
