Nice images Dixie.
quikcarl... I rode the Dragon back in '07 while on a cross country ride. With the attention this place gets, I decided to ride it early in the morning on a weekday. Wanted to avoid traffic coming and going, and enforcement . Knew it would be safer. At 8:15 AM on a Wednesday morning, had Deal's Gap to myself.

Thanks for the pictures, Dix. I grew up in central Alabama and used to go up in the area all the time. It's a beautiful place.. especially in the fall time when the leaves are changing. I haven't been there since a kid though.. so i think a ride is in order. I may try to head down sometime this spring..

this is not that true, you gotta watch out for other people, most of them will stay outta your way and in their own lane, especially if there are a lot of people out when there is no one up there or, if it is at night is when you need to watch out for the locals...a lot of the people that you hear about wrecking are people that try to over do it and or people on crotch rockets, the worst are the damn goldwingers they wont let you pass em or try not to let you, and they cant stay in their own damn lanes

only in the winter and a lot of them like 99% will not go up the moutain because they cant make the turns, I have seen a lot on the NC side not very many at all on the TN side

A good rule of thumb for being up there is, looking out for other riders and staying in your own lane and giving people room who want to pass you dont take up the whole road b\c a lot will pass you no matter what you try to do, and watch out for THP they are all dicks

Never been there on a bike....Beautiful country...Question?(probably stupid to ask) What about coming down them mountains...I was in a car and all I smelled was my brakes burning up..I put trans in low gear and still had to apply the brakes cause the trans sounding like it was going to blow up...How differcult is that on a bike?
