A friend of Mine with an Electra Glide led me on a nice little ride from Williamsburg, VA west along Route 5 to where we crossed over the James River on the Jordan Point Bridge. The run out there was nice. Two lane, light traffic, wooded and 55 mph mostly with one area that was recently re zoned to 45 mph. We hit a tiny bit of light rain about midway but it barely got us wet although the skys were overcast and threatning all day and rain was predicted for the afternoon. We got an early start though so it wasn't an issue for us.
The ladies wanted a break after the bridge so we stopped at the intersection of Routes 156 and 10. Talked with a couple guys on sport bikes while the ladies investigated the "facilities" then we were off again, headed east to the south side of the James River Ferry crossing. I hit a small turtle that was crossing the road along Route 10. I have to fight that urge to stare at road hazards, as it tends to deliver me right to them. I heard the poor guy bounce off the underside of the bike and I was a little nervous that he might have hurt something (on my bike) but all was well. I hit him a glancing blow and Mike told me he saw the thing richochet out from under my bike across the road so maybe I helped him across. We had to wait about 10 minutes to load at the ferry which gave us time to stretch our legs again. The trip across on the ferry was smooth as silk and took about 20 minutes.
We hit the Colonial Parkway after that and rode into Williamsburg and had lunch at Second Street, then home, me and Kim to Williamsburg and Mike and Lee to Newport News. All total maybe 180 miles. Short - yeah, but it was still nice.
