Road trip from Oklahoma to Montana..pics

After having my 09 UC for a couple days I decided to load it up and head out on a spontaneous road trip to the northwest.

I was gone 9 days and 8 nights and traveled 3754 miles. THe bike ran flawlessly and was amazingly comfy. I found out several times the hard way that the motor really needs a stage one kit at a minimum.

Once I got to Jackson Hole Wyoming I was advised that since I had made it that far that I should go on up to Glacier Nat'l park in northern Montana, so I did, and I'm glad I did, it was the most beautiful part of the trip. Yes, I exceeded the 1000 mile service point.. but did stop in at Thunderbolt HD in Butte, MT and had it done.. they were very accomodating as their service schedule was full but had me in and out in about 90 minutes and they washed my bike as well! Nice guys there, as were all the folks I ran across in Wyoming and Montana.

I previously owned a late model Goldwing and can say without a doubt the Ultra Classic is much more comfortable for me. I was able to do several days over 700 miles without being totally wiped out when I got to my destination. Best bike purchase I've made so far.. and the first bike that I've ever really been excited about..

Great trip and pictures. I would love to make that trip from Southeastern Oklahoma. I've only been as far as Colorado.

Congratulations on the bike. Where was the last picture taken? I am heading to Wyoming and Montana in the near future. I would like to see that river run.

Congratilations of the new bike, great pictures and most importantly for the ability to just up and take off for 9 days. I'm extremely envious

Thanks to all.

The last pic is from Yellowstone, the lower falls. The others were from Glacier Nat'l park in Montana.

There's some things in life that you will never get done until you just say wth I'm going, and this trip was one of them. It can be done on a tight budget or large.. It could be done in a week if you were by yourself and rode a couple long days. I was fortunate to have my business covered for several weeks and could be gone for that long. I forgot my passport, frankly because I wasn't planning on going that far north, or I would've gone up to Banf, Lake Louise and Jasper ..

My father's passing last month prompted the trip as I hadn't had any quality alone time to process things. He and I spent alot of time riding together when I was a kid and it was a way to reconnect with those good memories...

Just find a way and do it. No excuses...
