Rode from Williamsburg, VA to Roanoke on Saturday and returned on Sunday via Rt 460. We took Rt 5 to 295 and circled Richmond to Rt 33 West. We cut down to Charlottsville on Rt 20, a road I would highly recommend. It goes a lot further south than we followed it and it was very scenic. Unfortunately, we were stuck behind some traffic and couldn't enjoy it like we would have liked.
We traveled 120 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway, from It's begining to Roanoke. That was my first experience on rods like that and I learned something about riding YOUR pace and not someone else's. The guy I was with was a more experienced rider and he set a brisk pace that eventually had me scraping motorcycle parts in a left hand sweeper. Let me tell you, THAT was unsettling - especially being two up. I slowed down after that, but scraped again on the left side one more time. It got me thinking that I should have pumped more air into the rear suspension as I was still running my "town/comfy" setting.
The next day it rained on us hard for the first three hours as we headed home via 460. Despite the rain it was beautiful. I really enjoyed the trip, learned alot and kept all the shiny parts up.
