If you want to get technical... the gay people were there first. Bisbee was an old mining town at the turn of the century that was abandoned. At the time, squatting was legal so in the 60's and 70's, hippies and homosexuals starting seeking refuge there with a vision to make it a safe place to live for them and their families. They took over all the old buildings and homes and brought the town back to life. They are proud of their gayness but they don't force it on outsiders and you would barely know it while you're there.

I do not in any way condone homosexuality nor do I approve of it but it's America and that's the life they choose and it's their right. As long as they aren't hitting on me I'm ok. Being in the military where it is now "ok" has taught me a little more patience for alternative lifestyles than I used to have.
