What he said start the claim now. Call the dealer, take it in or whatever you have to do now. Then at the time you take her in for the 1k, the dealer may have it on stock cuz they woll definately have to order it.

Mine was pretty hard to get off the first few times as well. Works a lot better now. Bet I looked pretty funny the first time at the fuel pump twisting like a madman. Didn't bubble my paint though. And, yeah, there's only one cap. No dummy on the other side.

Yeah you better jump on that now. Fuel tanks aren't cheap and you don't want to lose the option to have it replaced with warranty. I just recently wrecked my blackline and had to have the tank replaced and it was around $1200 for the tank.

My cap was nearly impossible to remove at first, but after 4 or 5 fill ups it loosened up a bit. I never noticed anything with the paint, but I'll be checking it tonight.

before you change the tank for nothing. Mine is impossible also to get off!!!!! I've had mine on and off at least a hundred times and it is still a nightmare each time. My Harley guy said it's some chemical in the gas. I try and keep my stuff clean but make a mess with finger prints every time I need gas. I eke bought a thicker one the get better grip but still is tough. I even barely tighten it now. I just twist it till it starts to get tight. And it still is hard to come off. So don't know if tank will help you? try barely tightening it and see what happens

It is starting to loosen up some now, after removing it every time I look at my bike. When I ride, it tightens more, though. But I can at least grip it by hand now. Don't need a rubber strapped oil filter wrench anymore, so that's a relief!

I took a second look at my tank last time I filled up, and mine doesn't have any paint where the threads are.... paint stops at the edge of the filler hole where it turns down to where the threads are.

Just found it odd that they changed to painting over the threaded portion when they didn't do that before....

I switched mine out for the HD flushmount and haven't had a problem since. And, yes, I used to put downward pressure and twist on the old cap and it was still hard whether I did or not.
