I bought my first bike today, knew it would be a heritage from the beginning, it's the only one that felt right. It's a 08 for 16,500 with 7k miles, very well maintained with all paperwork and receipts, and a few extras, but found the 2010 model for 17k already. What's the big difference between the two??

I don't think there is any difference in the Bikes, just minor things.
I would go for the New Bike if possible, you will have a Warranty and You will be the First Owner. Good Luck in your choice!

And the new ones don't whine in 5th, because of the way the gear is cut..

Second That DIDYMUSS.

And don't believe the straight cut gears (spur gears) are stronger story. You can ask any industrial gear box designer or look up helical gear in Wikipedia.
