ADVICE Please!- Pipes etc for new Deluxe

I know the pipes I want on my bike, however, all the experts are disagreeing on what should be done.

I have my eye on the Vance & Hines Big Shots Staggered. I have the 2010 FLSTC - classic looking model. I think these will still look tough without taking away from the nostalgia of it.

The argument is....
Stage 1 air kit
Harley Download
Pipes

OR
Vance & Hines Fuel Pack
Air Kit
Pipes

Some say the Fuel Pack will make it run rich and foul my plugs.
On the other hand, they say I don't need the download at all (it's EXPENSIVE for just pushing a button to add data to my computer).

SO PLEASE HELP. This is a new bike and I'm just a gal in love with it and I really DON't want to do anything to hurt my warranty or my beloved bike.

Thank you!

You will definitely need the download from harley or a Fuel Pack, if that is all your going to do just do the download, if you think you are going to do motor work to your bike at a later time, get the Fuel Pack, it will grow with what you do. Good luck.

Thank you for the quick response, Dale. So get the fuel pack if I'm doing more engine modifications in the future... but if I just do the download and air kit now...that should increase the performance over and above stock?

Yes, if you are just looking to change the sound the download from Harley will be good enough.

Take a look at the new Power Commander V it would work on you bike and with the wide band module learns the mods and will adjust by itself. I have PC3 usb on my bike and you can load your own maps with it and adjust areas of each map to lean or add more fuel where it is needed at. It made a REAL BIG difference on mine with my staggard hooker headers and stage1 air cleaner. I saved a lot by getting everything on ebay and installing it myself.

Thanks

B&W THANK YOU!
I'm printing this forum and taking it with me to the shop. I hate not knowing when I'm getting "dinked" around or if a parts/service salesperson is trying to be honest.

So your set-up...high-performance? I like the idea of being able to adjust as needed. Is this what a Fuel Pack does, too?

ARBY!!! THANKS...COOL SITE! Have you bookmarked. I'm a metal artist, myself (girlovsteel.com), wish I could break into some bike fabrication with freehand art (not water-jetted)...looking for a local blacksmithing class-any ideas?

This guy is my IDOL...OMG, hang on to your knickers and check out his site (Contact Us)

V&H pipes will sound great & like you mentioned won't alter the "classic" look. either a fuel pack or Power Commander is a must, fuel pack is obviously V&H Brand..There is a site moto fuel database with asp at motofuel.com I believe (help me out here guys), they will send you a module all set for your bike ready to go to your specs(mapped) for $280. Im in the process myself. I have V&H as well & myself like the PC. Going w/ the Screaming Eagle breather (usually go aftermarket, but HD has nice breathers....You will gain about 12 hp & better performance & sound...Good luck
