Visions of Fatboys dancing in his head; good deal on a new 09 Fatboy??

For those that read my intro thread posted earlier... please disregard as most of this is the exact same;

I've never had a Harley before; the Sportster leaves me wanting more, and outside of that I've always thought the bikes I liked we're just too much. Now my financial situation has changed, so they're becoming more of a reality. Today, I just happened to stroll into a dealership, first looking at the used bikes. Test drove 2006 Fatboy and absolutely loved it. The dealer said he could offer me a better deal on a new 09 than the 17,000 mile 06??? WTF???

So here I sit, all signed up on this forum, with visions of a 2009 Fatboy dancing in my head - without any negotiation, the dealer offered $2500 off of MRSP, he says my out the door price will be $16,800.

Folks, I'm all about being sure I get a good deal; am I looking for the deal of the century... no. Do I want a good deal - yes. Is this good for a new 09 Fatboy? I always thought it was difficult to get them under MSRP? I know their trying to push the 09s out but I was not expecting that.

Any help, words of advice would be greatly appreciated; right now, I've told em' I'll think about it, but I know they'll be calling tomorrow b/c I told them I'm off bike-shopping which I am. I'm tempted to go with, 'if you can get me to $16K out the door', I'm there today with bells on'. Words/advice... I'll lend you my ears!!!

Thanks

MSRP on a Fatboy is $15,999, add about $350 for color. Add in sales tax, title, tag, and you should be out the door less that what the dealer quoted you. Dealers like to BS you with a low price, then add in a pile of junk fees.

One Fatboy flaw, in my humble opinion, is the near solid wheels. They can blow the bike all over the road in high and sometimes not so high winds. It's a good look that does not pan out on the road.

I'd say 16,500 out the door is fair, 16,000 out the door is a deal you had better jump on.

what mods have been done? I know it's new, but some dealers add extras to their bike for the added "eyecand" attraction.

good luck

Price is good not great. Might want to get two dealers competing for the sale. Fatboy is a nice ride. I think its a very versable bike. I rented one several years back before I had my own ride and enjoyed riding it. Try to get them throw in some extras, you have nothing to lose.

Not Bad Deal .. But some dealers will give u a discount of extra's like pipes and eyecandy when u buy the bike. My buddy bought a bike and found out if he would of got pipes when he first bought the bike he would of got 15% of the price of the pipes. So just something to think about.. Good Luck

My Fatty was $15999 + $350 Security + $700 Chrome Wheel Kit + 5Year Ext Warranty + tax, etc. out the door around $20k last year. Dealer gave me $1000 gift card. If your offer is strictly stock, out the door, sounds like you're paying tax & title only. Not bad.

I bought my first HD last year. 00 Fatboy and everybody told me to watch out for the wind. without spokes it will/does try to push you around a bit. But I live near Chicago and haven't had any trouble at all. My wife doesn't like the wind but she is a bit nervous anyway. I just ride right through it

Same there. The solid rim has not difference on it. The only time I had trouble was with the 50MPG Chicago wind gust lately. (Daaa !!)

The tires have too much grip with the road for the wind to do anything. You're not driving on ice.

If anything, its your body that grabs the wind that you fight, not the tires.

Gunna agree, why would Harley release a bike that can injure someone? It would be a law suit against them if people turn around & say " It was the wind hitting my rims that caused the street wobble, which caused me to wipe out" Im sure there engineered by a bunch of specialists..It's like a guy w/ a bagger saying due to his bags the wind hitting a large solid area caused a wipe out.....or a guy w/ a dyna saying because of my exposed large battery cover, the wind hit it just right & blew me off...or..........
