Synthetic or ?? Oil at first 1,000 miles?
I'm sure this has been approached, but really... IS there a HUGE difference in oils, besides the ridiculous expense of the synthetic, if you can't do it yourself? (Okay, I probably could with a little instruction)
I'm in Florida, so right now you can scramble eggs on the sidewalk at 93 degrees. I'm sure climate plays a part.
1. Is Synthetic the best way to go for your bike?
2. If I don't go with Synthetic is there another kind to request?
3. If I change to Synthetic should this be a permanent change?

I was new to this term also, 'dino' is petroleum based oil..you know like it's made from decaying dinosaurs...get it?
Synthetic fan here by the way...supposed to keep things cooler since our bikes aren't water cooled.

ZHarleyGirl..... man.....that's tough to ype out. I'll call you ZHG...
Synthetic would benefit you greatly. Here's why.... Most people use it due to living in hot climates, and it's excellent protection for your engine, trans and primary.
But another thing great about synthetic is in cold weather, it stays thin, unlike dino or organic oils, and protects your engine better on cold starts, and reduces cold oil clutch drag on cold riding days.
It costs a tad more, but it's worth it in the long run.
