Crankcase Breather

My breather hose is running under under my trans. It has a bolt in the hose with a clamp around it. Does anybody know if this is a problem? It seems that I have a lot of pressure building in my rockerbox. I have a leak that i have fixed once and now again. Having a hard time aligning the box covers. Its a 1992.

if thats your actual breather line,im surprised its not leaking everywhere, where on the motor dose the line go?if its the 1/4 npt hole behind the oil pump,it needs to be open if
its`91- down,if its `92 up you have head breathers

Your profile says "softail custom".

What year?

If that's what I'm thinking, it's your oil tank drain hose. Take the bolt out and all your oil drains out. It's how you change your oil......

It has nothing to do with venting.

Your head vents vent into the aircleaner housing, unless someone placed aftermarket breather tubes on the bike with an aftermarket airfilter housing.

If so, that hose should go up to the head vent(s).

The one you have with the bolt in it, is your drain hose.

thats why i asked where it went to the motor,he could have an non head breather evo,ive had them come in the shop, where they had alittle oil coming out of the breather hose,so they plugged it (and gaskets started leaking) if its the drain, either he just got the bike,or dosnt change oil very often

Gotcha, Kirby..... just seems odd that someone went to the trouble to not only use a bolt, but a clamp as well......

It's a 1992

If it is a drain then I have 2. I have changed the oil with a hose that goes under the trans as well. I bought it used and it has a hypercharger the bolts that go into the head which I thought were the breathers are just regular bolts. So that might be the problem. The hose with the bolt/clamp on it comes out of the bottom of the engine block. It is a 1992.
