Anyone have success running Baker Plus One oil pan on '07 Deluxe? What is temp lowering pros/cons vs. oil cooler?

Just my opinion......

I believe you'd see more of a temp change with a cooler and synthetic oil then a +1 pan.

http://www.bakerdrivetrain.com/flt/index.htm#p1p

Very nice product, but it's also tucked up pretty high in the frame rails, precluding it from a lot of air exposure, (softail) unlike a Dyna, where it would hang lower.

Baker claims that it decreases oil temps by 10* on an 80* day. You can gain that by just switching to synthetic oil on a stock bike....

Very nice looking product. Well made. Cast or billet....

And you rode yours in hotter temps this summer and got better then just 10* lower results, right Lee?

Pulled this from the site.

The feed and return on a stock pan are located within a 2 inches of each other in the front of the pan. BAKER+1 pan has the feed located in the rear and the return in the front for more compete system circulation.

I assume the thought process of Baker is that with better circullation it helps to dissipate the heat.

I believe that the aluminium baffles come into play as a cooling factor as well.

These are merely assumptions on my part.

The feed being moved to the rear is a better design and done so you'll never have an oil starvation issue on hard accelerations, when oil's slung to the back of the engine.

The baffles are internal and are added to prevent oil transfer, and has to be done in deeper pans. Baffeling is supposed to prevent this, but doesn't always, especially if the feed is in the front.

I agree that circulating the oil differently in the pan would seem to help lower temps, but if it only drops oil temps 10* on an 80* day, it's gonna do less as it gets hotter out, or in slow traffic.

JUST changing to synthetic oil alone will drop oil temps 15-20*.

An oil cooler increases the oil level as well, however, it moves oil AWAY from the reservoir, allowing it to shed heat. Adding a 1 qt oil pan, just gives you one more qt of oil.

I see a great advantage of adding the Plus-one oil pan, with a cooler and Synthetic oil. This way, the oils cooled better, and you've increased the capacity by almost 2 qts. That's beneficial to anyone riding in hotter climates, or heavy, slow summer traffic.
