Replacing Tappet Blocks

I have a 2000 Night Train and the tappet blocks have peeling chrome.. I want to replace them - can this be done inframe?

What's the best way to remove them.

Yes. The tappet block covers are just that: covers.

However, unless you're going to remove the gas tank, rockerboxes and pull the rocker arms to reuse your solid, nonadjustable pushrods, you'll have to cut the pushrods and replace them with adjustables. (Quick-install pushrods)

Screamin Eagle makes them. $145 a set. Comes with new upper pushrod tubes as well, which are shorter for adjustment.

It's a 2-3 hour job with a lift and bolt cutters for the old pushrods.
