Neutral Position Problems

I had the same issue with my 11 Heritage, It was all but impossible to hit neutral while the engine is running.

I attributed it to not being fully broke in. After about 10k it became much easer and now pushing 20k it is like butter.

what i did that helped me was to put more of my foot under the shifter vs trying to use my toes to find neutral

That very same problem disappeared from my sportster around ~4K mark. I'm at 6K (6 months old bike) and the problem's all but gone completely. Haven't got the slightest clue what the underlying issue was
