dilemma
ok Guys so I have an 02 1200C that I picked up last year for an incredible price, put about 3,000 miles on it last year and upgrade a few things. Tho I really love the bike I have another option opening. I have a friend with a 96 Fatboy (which is the bike I have always wanted) with only 3,000 miles garage kept original owner and wants to get rid of it and only wants $5k for it.
My question is what would you guys do if you could sell my current bike for the same price or right around it and pick up the fatboy, bigger and more comfortable ride? I know it's a decision I will make but are there any issues that I should be aware of with that yr model of the fatboy that would cause me to run from the opportunity?

Sure you will
so seriously for that price, that old, should I go with it? I'm a harley guy to the core so I know the Evo is a great engine but want to make a wise choice. I'm more knowledgeable with sportsters than softies so I know which yrs of sporties to not buy but again softies not my forte.

Nothin wrong with a '96 Fat Boy that I'm aware of.
Your friend's bike on the other hand might be another story. A 16-17 year old bike with only 3k on the clock is bound to have issues. It may have been garaged kept but not riding it can lead to all sorts of issues. You've obviously been around and seem to know your way around bikes. Check it out thouroughly or if you don't feel comfortable doing it, get an experienced mechanic to check it out for you. If everything checks out, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Were it me ... I'd go with the FB if that is what I wanted.
You didn't provide much information but around here a 1996 FB will go anywhere from $10,075.00 in Excellent condition to $1,565.00 in Fair.
Average retail for a 2002 1200C is $3.958.00, you are the one looking at both bikes.

yeah I know it was a little vague and it's mainly because I haven't seen the bike for a while, guy is one of those guys who bought the harley just to have along with the Vette, Viper, and jet boat. I am a little worried with the problems that arise just from sitting but just kind of depends on what I can find. Going to look at it for sure. I will keep you guys posted.

Isn't '96 the year that Arnold rides in the first Terminator movie? Sharp bike!
