trip to a dealer
So I was heading to the only HD dealer around here that I will actually deal with yesterday afternoon..... looking for a pair of riding gloves that fit my hands and are comfortable....... can't find any anywhere, and while at the stealership, I found a pair, but I refuse to pay $72 for a pair of gloves...........
but, while I was there, I spied this lil feller sittin in the corner all by his lonesome, poor guy. a 1990 xl883. bone stock, damn near cherry condition. get this 3100 miles, yup, 3000 miles in 20 years.
well my hampster started runnin on his wheel, and I just couldn't help myself. Talked to the finance guy (just don't have enough cash for it) 2 minutes later, "well sir, Harley motor credit had approved you, but want you to pay half down due to the year of the bike" "uhhhhh, hmmmm" I said. Not going to do that, he tells me I can finance it for up to 5 years. Well sure, and make a $40 payment per month. I am thinking 2 or 3 years. He said he has a couple local banks that might lend the full amount at a short term like I am suggesting, so we punched some numbers (local banks are closed at this time) looks like I can get the bike (pending bank approval) for $250 down, and $105 a month for 3 years.
He says he will submit first thing Monday morning and should know something for sure by 1 or 2 in the afternoon.
So I may be adding another pony to the stable. My thoughts is, I can resell it and make a little cash off it, but if not, my boy will be getting his license in about 6 months....how perfect would that be, for a 16 year old, to have a Harley for his first bike?
the most amazing thing, is that someone had neglected the little pony for 20 years.... how else could you only get 3100 miles on a bike in 20 years. Dealer showed me what they had to do to it when they got it in on trade, carb was gummed up, they tore it down, cleaned and rebuilt it. fluid and filter change, new tires.
so next time I need gloves, I'll stay away from a Harley dealer......I still didn't get any gloves, lol

thing I can't understand is insurance going up....3 bikes, ya can't ride all 3 of em at once, so why should the insurance be so high? but then again, I have a few friends who love to ride and don't have bikes, and every so often a buddy or two might have issues with their bike, etc, so it has happened on occassion to have both my current bikes on the road at the same time

Looks like that "lonesome, poor guy" has found a good home.
I'm sure there is at least one more dealer you can check out for gloves.
