oil cap

Hi everyone, just got me my first ever Harley-2006 883 Sporster, real minter! However can't seem to put the oil cap on correctly...it's not flush. Anyone know how?

you gotta stick it in and turn it to get it on then push the cap in, those things are the biggest pos ever created btw

ya, once it seats a little it'll turn for a little bit then you just gotta give it some force and screw it in till it matches up, then just push it in. You gotta screw it hard and push at the end!

Yeah, that thing is spring loaded. push it in to pop it up and push again to stay down.

Watch how you put it in....think the narrow tooth gap is at the top....one is narrow and one is wide. I have trouble getting mine out and in when the bike is hot.

Buy a later model Sporty cap that has the knurling around the edge , much easier to use than the stock slippery thing .
