Regular or Premium Gas?
This may be a silly question but when I bought my Iron 883, the salesman told me to only use "Premium" gas in it. I just looked at the specs sheet for the Iron 883 and it says use "Regular" gas. I know it's not a lot of money when you're filling up 3 gallons at a time but over the years, it could add up. What kind of gas do yall use in your Sporty's??

Use what the bike doesn't ping on. If it runs on 87, and no preignition, then why spend the extra cha-ching on 93. You won't gain anything from it.
In the summer, ambient temps usually warrant running higher octane fuels, just due to internal engine heat alone. If you can run 89, then run 89. The important thing is to avoid preignition, which can cause eventual engine damage.
Oh.....and look in your owner's manual as to what it says, and try not to believe some salesman that's worried more about commision then telling you the correct information.

Salesman told me "use 93" and I never looked back... it's like, 15¢ more a gallon down here.

Well in me book (04 Owners manual) 87 was the reccomended grade for 883's, 91 for 1200's.
Might have a closer look, I cant say for later models.
Thats one of the reasons I always said it's the cheapest bike in the HD line to run.

yup yup. The problem is that I was always running 91 and still got pinging from time to time. First time I'd ever heard it in my life, but I knew exactly what it was when it happened.
Haven't heard anything since my new parts, though.
