service manual question

I was looking on ebay for a service manual. I noticed a lot of manuals on cd. Are they any good or is it better to get a real paper copy? Thanks in advance, Mark

Look for an official HD Moco (Motor Company) manual. Anything else is pirated, a cheap copy or less then what you want. After 30 years of wrenching, I learned that from experience.

I just bought one of those PDF on CD manuals... it's not too bad, but doesn't have any corrections. There's wrong info in mine... oil capacity, for one thing...

Dave is right, when it comes to the manual (~$60 for good book) y'get whatcha pay for!
In other words I don't mind that I spent $20 for the disk, but I'd rather have the real book.

I got mine from the Dealer. I don't know about online. I checked
the Harley dealer I buy online stuff from, but I don't see a listing
for manuals.
Regards Sonny

The HD manual is a must for the biker that wrenches on their own bike . The only problem is when a revision to the manual is made the only people that hear about it is the dealer mechs and svc. dept. . HD sends revision bulletins out regularly to the dealerships that replace pages in the manuals . If you find some info in a service manual that sounds wrong then you gotta second guess it and use your best judgement and even ask about it in this forum .

Book is easier to hold than a laptop on the crapper. Makes for good reading.
