I need help picking out a cam
I need help picking out a screaming eagle cam for my '07 sportster 1200. I am installing screaming eagle performance bolt on heads, screaming eagle push rods, screaming eagle high compression pistons, and screaming eagle tappets. Not sure on which cam. I have 3 choices (page 45, 2010 Screaming Eagle catalog):
1. High Output pt#25740-05
2. Performance pt#25197-04
3. High Performance pt#25649-01A
I'm not much on engines and don't know awole lot about lift and duration and which one would best suit my needs. Please help!

lift and duration are pretty self explanatory if you don't over think them...
lift : how much the cam lobe pushes open the valve
duration : how long the valve actually stays open (start to finish)
and then when it comes to which one is best, that depends on how you want your riding style to be. there's street-style cams, which are best for daily drivers to get more "umpf". street/strip-style, which are best for daily drivers that want MORE "umpf"... a kind of "red light racer" setup. then there's strip-style, which are designed for race use (and usually require more than just putting in the cams).
since you're seemingly going with the whole package, you should be ok with whatever you choose. you just need to choose your riding style - get up n' go, or holy crap I need a seatbelt. personally, I went mid-level cams on my car, and loved them.
edit: where did you get the catalog?

I want the red light racer type, just want to crack the throttle and be gone.
Screaming Eagle catalogs are available at your local HD dealer. Just ask, they are free.

then look for the cam profile that's in the mid range.
for example, let's say that the lift or duration numbers are 356, 370, 395 (just examples, not real specs). the one you're probably looking for is the 370 - in the middle.
can you post the actual numbers so as to give a better response??

Cam options
Try looking at this attachment. You should be able to see the cam options and ranges.

Currently on bike: Screaming eagle stage I Intake, Screaming Eagle Race tuner, Bassani Sweeper Exhaust. Planning on installing Screaming Eagle Perormance heads(bolt on), SE pistons, SEpushrods, and SE tappets. From what I'm gathering should yield a 11.3:1 compression ratio. I just want this bike to be loud and fast when I take off. Not going to be racing it (I'm not into high speed, did enough of that when I was younger). I just want power and take off I guess especially in the low and mid range?

Check these B4 U buy!
Check out this site for some huge sporty cam info! This was the most comparison info I could find.
The Sportster Home Page
The Sportster Home Page cam notes
XL CAM spreadsheet
I'm running N9s in my 1460.
It was pulling 12.6 @ 106 in the 1/4 with the N4s as a 1200.
Hope this helps.
