Glad it worked out, Monk.. you should notice a difference.. probably run a lot smoother for you now.

Mine were loose coming from the showroom floor.. and I dont mean a little bit lose, they were finger lose.

I'm thinkin' it had to be runnin' the rear cylinder real rich, to compensate for the sensor not getting the full flow..?
Like I said, the last two tanks had the low fuel light come on @ ~85 miles. That ain't right!
I think I'll see a difference quick... back to 120 miles before the warning. I hope.
I does sound better! That's the main thing!

It's much better. Quieted down just a little, the exhaust is now all comin' from the pipes.
Not so hot on my nads at stoplights, smoother power band too.
Hopin' for a longish cruise tomorrow, we'll see about the mileage then.

I like it.

Thanx for the help guys! Especially Dave.

You can get away with a lock washer and a regular nut, in a pinch.
Dave, I'm getting ready to change out the exhaust on my FXD next week. The factory service manual has not arrived yet. What is the torque setting on those nuts?

Following Jack's recommendation, I made mine about 1/2 grunt.
And will keep an eye on 'em in future.

I searched and couldn't find any reference to this in my manual!

Whoever put the V&H pipes on it didn't do it right... all 4 studs/nuts are rusted terribly, not flanged and have no lock washers even. The front ones are so solid I'd be afraid to put a socket on 'em, and the other back one at the flange I worked on actually spun the stud deeper rather than the nut spinning when I tightened it.

I'm lucky it's all intact.

I'd like to pull the other three and put washers and new nuts on 'em, but if it ain't broke... don't fix it!

Well, the gas mileage seems normal again.

Guess that was it.
