Iron 883 Mirrors

I saw this topic on another forum and I've been bugged about it myself. I can't tell what's coming up from behind me on the highway (cops that is) in the dang convex mirrors that are on my bike! Am I the only one that has problems with convex mirrors? What do you seasoned riders do about this? Can I change my mirrors to regular ones or do you recommend keeping the convex ones and just obey the speed limits?

XL1200R I couldn't see behind me,shoulders in the way, I had to lean to look,,tried the 2 inch height extenders for the stock mirrors,,,can see good now. At 75 mph I can tell a car color, if its close,,some mirror vibration but useable,,can tell the diff in a pickup or car or mini van out to,,bout 100 yards give or take. First Police cruiser to sneak up on me got to 25 yards before I saw the light bar. When Im haulin ass I use an old trick,,Never be the fastest, always keep someone easin by you,,,be the second fastest. Its worked for me along time now.

That's good. I'll keep that in mind. I inverted my mirrors so I could see out of them without my shoulders getting in the way. I just have trouble figuring out what the heck I'm seeing.

I seem to have less trouble with flat glass. Got a custom set and they still don't have great coverage, but I can see better in 'em.
Got 'em focused right into the blind spots, that's my biggest concern, more'n what's 100 yards behind.
